My Bi-Starual Yule tree!

In case you were wondering- I'm an atheist that 'celebrates' christmas.  I've always called it Yule, because of it's pagan roots... but never mind about that.  Here's the tree a single geek can have in his house!

The new library- beginnings

Progress being made on the new library- formerly the spare room upstairs.  I'm going with the same orange wall/green trim look as the current downstairs library, but I've chosen a darker orange.  I'm nearly done with that- just another coat on the edges and then the trim.  When I move everything upstairs I hope to finally be able to get my books in a little better order than they are now.

Tom SERVO!

Hours of winter fun!

Empty rooms

So, I'm a bit behind on this.  The ex left at the end of October!  I've actually started painting the front room, so I can move the library in there, but here are a few pictures of the aftermath of the exodus.

A couple of new projects

A couple of new projects for the bedroom.  The Time Bandits map is all wonky, and I couldn't get it straight on the frame.  I used the left side- the one with the clocks running down it- as my base line, since I like those images.  Lining up on the top would have cut off the bottom clocks.  I plan on putting a decorative frame it in the next few weeks, so that should hide it's inherent unbalance... or is that me?  The hat shelf didn't turn out as nice as I'd hoped, but it's still pretty cool.

A work in progress

When my ex and I bought the house- we wanted to have two spheres of separate spaces- his and hers, as it were.  The basement was mine and the upstairs was hers.  That's how we decorated when we first moved in.  I spent a lot of time working on my spaces, but now I get to expand.  Here's where I am now...
The living room now- she'll be gone soon

The master bedroom now- complete with Thorin's Map

The library
More library

And even more library
The music room in disorder
The music room and even more of its disorder
I like hockey and booze...  yup
The 'home theater'
DVDs and some of my Star Wars figures

Yup- next on the list is a flat screen

The geekery begins...

The House: the Before...

These are some pictures of my house the second time we looked at it- for the record- I didn't take them.  It was a foreclosure.  I found writing in the master bedroom closet, and it looks like it was someone trying to do the flip thing.  I had at first felt a bit bad that we were getting this deal because of someone's misfortune.  Once I read everything on the wall, I realized that whoever lost the house were not only juggling several other properties but they had also 'counted the eggs before market' with all sorts of sums that showed they'd be rich beyond their wildest dreams.  Over-extended because of reality television.

The back of the house- the awning over the porch collapsed during a snow storm before we finally closed.
The back garden
Garage'o'fest'rama!
The living room.  All the walls were painted white and notice the popcorn ceiling- yuck

The upstairs bathroom- halfway done and filled with fittings that someone must have thought was 'classy'

Here's the beginning

So, I'm a geek.  A big one.  Recently I bought a house, and right after I got settled, I got a divorce.  Now the house is all mine, and I've decided to try and use it as a way to document my journey into the deepest of geekdom.
